It would be perfect if the Mini Mode would behave similarly to the Windows taskbar when you set it up on "Automatically hide"; to only show it on mouseover on a specific area.
Alternatively, instead of hiding it like the taskbar, it could just simply change its opacity from zero to whatever you set it to when it shows.

The problem with this is, that you can´t move your mouse to specific positions in your screen when you have a crosshair
